This section will hopefully answer any questions you may have not thought to ask at registration. It will also provide important information and an overview of the year. Thank you.

  Notification

How do I receive important Information & Updates throughout the season?

Trimester Newsletters

There are two options to receiving the Trimester Newsletters:

1) Hard Copy: Each family opting for a hard copy of updates will be issued an envelope in the lobby. It is the family’s job to check the envelope on a weekly basis. Any corrections or last-minute updates will be posted on the bulletin board.

DO NOT REMOVE THE ENVELOPE FROM THE LOBBY.

2) Website or Email Updates: Those families opting for online updates will be able to check information at any time. When new information is posted, an e-mail will be sent directing you to the newest updates/corrections. This is the most efficient and most up-to-date way to receive studio information.

EMAIL IS THE BEST WAY TO RECEIVE THE MOST RECENT INFORMATION!

When is Tuition Due?

Tuition is due Aug 1st, Nov. 1st & Feb. 1st

There is a drop-off box located to the left of the office window in the lobby to place payment if the office is closed. Please write the dancer's first and last name on the memo line.

*The computer will automatically charge a $10 late fee on the 8th of each month there is a balance!

*If tuition is not received by the time the new semester starts (Sept 1st, Dec. 1st, & March 1st respectively) , your dancer will not be permitted to enter the classroom.

  Parking

Where do I park?

There are many places to park:

In any of the white striped parking spaces on Haddon Ave. & Albertson Ave.

There is also parking across the street along Wow Video and the gas station.

Where am I prohibited from parking?

You may not park in the parking lot!!!

Also... The drive way is one way in from Haddon Avenue and one way out onto Albertson Avenue .

Please use the new crosswalk at Albertson.

  Inclement Weather

How do I find out if class is closed due to inclement weather?

We are asking for a volunteer parent from each class to act as the representative of that class. In case of an emergency closing, the office will contact the class rep. of the classes affected and they would be asked to contact the rest of the class. The message will also be changed on the studio machine. If you suspect a closing, you can call the studio and listen to the message.

  Visitor's Day

Can I watch my dancer in class?

We ask that visitors not be in the classroom during class. In our experience, a family member's presence in the classroom during class distracts the dancer and makes the other dancers nervous, especially in the first few months. Please be assured that we will do everything to make your dancer feel comfortable and welcome! We do, however, invite you to wait in our lobby until class has finished. The week of December 14 -December 18,2009 will be visitors week . Family members will be able to watch class this week.

Thank you for your understanding!

  Spring Show Information

Obligation:

Is my dancer obligated to be in the show? If you do not wish for your dancer to participate in the spring show, you must fill out the “No Performance” card and submit it to the office before October 1st, 2009. If we do not receive the card in time you will be responsible for purchasing a costume. All dancers in the show are required to pay a $20 performance fee to offset the price of the show and to help keep the ticket cost down. This fee is due by October 1st, 2009.

Siblings:

Will both my dancers perform in the same show?

All Creative, Combo, and most Beginner through Intermediate classes will only perform in one show at the end of the season. To accommodate families with two or more dancers in different classes, we have divided those classes into two color groups. Please select classes of the same color to guarantee that siblings will be performing in the same show. Those classes that have not been given a color may be selected to perform in both shows.

Costumes:

How much are the costumes for the recital?

All Creative, Combo, and Acrobatic costumes are $65 each. All Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Bendi & Hip Hop Costumes are $75 each*. Each student will receive one pair of stocking per color needed for the show at no additional fee. All costume money is due by OCTOBER 1, 2009 along with performance dues. There will be a $10 late fee for each month your payment is late. If your dancer is not participating in the spring show or is opting out of performing with a particular class, and a “No Recital” card is not submitted by the cut of date, you will be responsible for the full cost of the costume(s). Pictures of costumes will be posted on bulletin board in October.
*ensemble/competition costumes may be more.

Picture Day:

What is picture day?

The Spring Show Program includes pictures of every class, as well as pictures of students who place ads. Although you are not obligated to purchase a picture package, we ask that you show up for the class picture so all dancers are represented in the program. Tentative Day: April 17, 2010

Practice CD's:

Practice makes Perfect:

We encourage all of our students to purchase a copy of their recital music. We make cuts, speed changes, and special effects to most of our dance music. Having a copy at home helps them practice at home. You can have all of your songs on one CD for only $5. An order form will be available in the Winter Newsletter. Deadline for CD requests: Friday, March 19, 2010

Show Tickets:

Tickets to the Spring Show are sold by lottery system.

You are free to purchase as many remaining tickets at that time as well. Tickets are also available for pick up at the dress rehearsals.

IF ANY FAMILY HAS AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE AT THE TIME OF SALE, TICKETS WILL NOT BE PULLED UNTIL THE BALANCE IS PAID. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! NO PHONE REQUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

  Awards

Studio Awards

In addition to a wonderful dance education, there are many different types of awards offered each year:

*Students completing their 5th, 10th, or 15th year of dance are presented with a trophy.

(all years do not have to me completed at Ovations)

Please make sure you fill out an award information section on registration form.

*Attendance is taken at each class and a medal and certificate of recognition is given out to those students who have attended every regularly scheduled class. Classes cannot be “made-up” for this award. (the qualifications for this award begins in October and runs to the end of April)

*Each month a student is selected from each full-hour class (Intro and up) as the Student of the Month. Students who receive this honor emit good class conduct, are always properly dressed, exhibit a desire to learn and excel, and are present for all scheduled classes that month.

*Each Spring everyone has the opportunity to participate in the ad sale campaign. All ads appear in our Spring Show Program. Benefits from the campaign go towards our scholarship fund awarded to the Student of the Year! The student with the highest ad sales receives an award at the awards show.

*At the end of the dance season, each teacher is asked to pick their most improved dancer. Those selected as a Most Improved Student must demonstrate good practice skills and show effort & determination when attempting new skills.

Those who are selected are presented with a trophy and a $50 Gift Certificate to Ovations!

The Student of the Year Award is presented to one student each year. Nominations for the award are discussed amongst all the teachers. Ms. Rita chooses the winner from these nominations. Selection is based on the same criteria as student of the month, but you do not need to have perfect attendance. The student must exhibit those qualities all year.

The student selected as Student of the Year receives a full tuition scholarship the following year!

As you can see on the calendar of the year, there will be a separate awards ceremony on the Friday of the weekend of the shows. This will help the shows run smoother and ensure that all dancers are present for their award.

We would like to congratulate our 2008-2009 Student of the Year Teresa Lively!!!!!!!!

  Volunteers

Throughout the year we need volunteers to help make the dance season run smoothly.

Below are a list of areas we could use volunteers.

If you wish to help in any area please fill out a volunteer card and return it to the studio.

*Class Room Representatives: In case of class cancellation or important reminders, the office will contact the classroom representative who would then call the rest of the class.

*Pizza Delivery Day: The Joe Corbi Truck usually arrives around 9am and we need volunteers to help unload the truck, and sort orders.

*Set Day: All of our sets we make at the studio. On set day we ask for volunteers, ages 10 and up to help paint, glitter, and build sets/props.

*Spring Show Help: *Sign in/out Table - during whole show
